Upper Coquetdale - the hills and valleys beyond Rothbury hold an impressive selection of species, Buzzards soar overhead and the occasional ‘kronk’ call of the Raven can be heard. Whinchats and Wheatears sing from the hilly slopes in summer and the River Coquet bursts with birdlife, Dipper, Common Sandpiper, Oystercatcher, Sand Martin & Grey Wagtail all breed. Butterflies and Dragonflies add interest on sunny days.

Cheviot Valleys – A spring walk on a sunny day with snow still on Cheviot is not to be missed. Ring Ouzels sing from high crags as Redstarts splash colour across the riverside oak glades. Cuckoos advertise their presence calling softly and Dippers whirr past following every river bend.
Higher up the valley Peregrines hold sway on the dark crags and the mournful calls of Golden Plover drift from the high plateau. Full day Tour: (6-8 hours), 8-10km including steep terrain. Price £50 per person (inc picnic lunch).
Lindisfarne NNR & Holy Island - the huge expanse of intertidal mudflats that form the bulk of Lindisfarne NNR team with waders and wildfowl in winter. Pale-bellied Brent Geese, Grey Plovers and wave after wave of Wigeon & Teal make for an exceptional birding experience. In autumn Holy Island can be a major rarity hotspot with real possibilities for finding your own rare birds in the hedges and gardens. Full day Tour: (6-8 hours), 4-5km of walking possible. Ponds & Pools – Half day tour discovering birds around the ponds and pools of south east Northumberland and Druridge Bay. With 15 different wetland locations to choose from why not rely on our scouting to find the best ones holding the birds and the best places to view them from. Waders, wildfowl, migrants and residents there is a vast range of birds waiting to be found in the south east of the county if you know where to look.

Woodland Walking – Northumberland has some amazing woodland with some great birds to be found from Green & Great Spotted Woodpeckers, elusive Pied Flycatchers to breeding Ospreys and cone-crunching Crossbills. We can offer a woodland walking day at different locations across the county to find all these and more. Our Woodland Walks can be arranged for half days or full days to take in multiple locations. Full days include a stop for a country pub lunch (not included in price).
